O'Keeffe's Healthy Feet utilises a unique 3 step process to heal the skin on your cracked feet. It is water-based and contains Glycerin, which attracts and retains moisture within the skin. This moisture is necessary for the skin's healing process. O'Keeffe's Healthy Feet contains a higher concentration of Allantoin to allow better penetration through the tough, thick skin of the feet. Allantoin works to remove dead skin cells and thus improve absorption of moisturising ingredients. This FDA approved skin protector also helps to guard the skin from damaging friction often experienced by feet.
The 3 step process is
- First, O'Keeffe's products hydrate the skin with both water and glycerin. Glycerin is a humectant which draws moisture to itself at a molecular level causing hydration of the skin. Hydration is the process of replacing lost cellular water. This is vital because only hydrated cells are capable of repairing themselves.
- Secondly, O'Keeffe's products trap that moisture at the cellular level with two occlusive agents, stearic acid and paraffin. These highly effective ingredients prevent evaporation of the hydrating compounds and water.
- Thirdly, O'Keeffe's products alter the pH in the dermis layer of the skin causing the chemoreceptors to sense this change. These receptors react by activating the body's own powerful repair cycle.
